Thanks to the great developer community, the unofficial CM14.1 can be installed on your Note 3 via custom TWRP recovery and experience the latest Android Nougat. If your Note 3 (SM-N9005) is running on Android 5.0 Lollipop, you can flash the CM14.1 on it, but requires latest version of TWRP recovery and root access on the device.

As always, before start backup entire data you have on the device, as the below guide will wipe all data from the device. Also note, make sure you have a stock system image to flash back to. Make a system backup from TWRP recovery before proceeding. Note: To install unofficial CM14.1 requires Android 4.3 (or higher) bootloader on your Galaxy Note 3.

How to install Unofficial CM14.1 on Galaxy Note 3

  1. Download CM14.1 ROM zip file for Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 from here/ source. Also, download Gapps package from here (arm – 7.1 – pico). Save both zip files on your device’s SD card.
  2. Reboot your Galaxy Note 3 in to TWRP recovery (switch off the phone, press and hold Volume Up, Home, and Power button few seconds).
  3. In TWRP recovery, perform a full wipe (cache, dalvik cache, data/factory reset) by selecting ‘Wipe’ option.
  4. Now, flash CM14.1 and Gapps. To do so, select ‘Install’, navigate to ROM zip file and swipe to confirm flash. Repeat the same for Gapps as well.
  5. Before rebooting, once again wipe cache partition and data, and then reboot your phone. Note: The first boot will takes around 10 – 20 minutes. Once booted up, set up your Note 3 and enjoy Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Any question? Leave it in the comment section below (source – Trader418)
